Bio
Parisa is a Senior Engineering Manager of Database Infrastructure at PayPal with 12+ years of experience scaling mission-critical data systems across global payments platforms. She leads a team of engineers responsible for 100+ MySQL clusters and a broad portfolio spanning ProxySQL, Cassandra, Redis, Elasticsearch, Kafka, and more — supporting 200+ microservices at 99.99% uptime across PayPal, Xoom, and Hyperwallet.
A hands-on technical leader, she has driven large-scale MySQL migration programs (5.5/5.7 → 8.0), architected self-healing database infrastructure, and deep-dived into some of the most nuanced replication challenges in production environments.
Beyond PayPal, Parisa is an active voice in the MySQL community — invited by Percona’s founder to shape MySQL community strategy, invited by Oracle’s VP of MySQL Community Engagement to attend PreFOSDEM, and selected to speak at Percona Live 2025.
She brings the same rigor and passion to engineering leadership that she brings to building great teams and great databases.
