DBdeployer: Bringing the project back to life in 2026

May 27-29, 2026 • Computer History Museum, CaliforniaDate, time, and room will be announced soon.
DBdeployer is the essential tool for deploying MySQL and MariaDB topologies, such as async replication and Galera cluster, on a single host. After Giuseppe Maxia stopped maintaining it in 2023, the project was basically idle. I’ve restarted the project to ensure the community still has a fast, reliable way to test database clusters locally. In this talk, I’ll share the journey of adopting an established open-source codebase, the motivation for keeping it alive, and what the future of the tool looks like in 2026. I’ve already implemented support for MySQL 8.4 LTS and InnoDB Cluster.
What we will cover:
How to deploy classic topologies (standalone, async, and Galera) in seconds.
Support for MySQL 8.4 and native InnoDB Cluster deployments.
VillageSQL: A look at the most recent release and why it’s a big step forward for the tool.
How to report bugs, request features, and how you can contribute to the project.
